Before, foyer:
After, foyer (no new decor, just a much nicer color):
Before, upstairs hallway gallery wall. I never hated this wall, but I wasn't pleased with how unmatched and chaotic everything was.
After, upstairs gallery wall. Much calmer, matching frames (new floral art from Kirkland's on sale for $15!), lovely warm color.
I have since added 5x7s to that one frame that was empty: sweet baby pictures of both kids, that hadn't seen the light of day or been displayed, ever.
Note our stupidly positioned light switches/outlets. The whole house is like this, with switchplates (even thermostats) in the middles of walls. We cannot understand why the builder did this. Note also the wreath: Ash the cat was verrrrry interested in it at first. From downstairs, we heard a loud, scratchy attempt to jump up and attack it. Only happened once, though, and thank goodness he didn't scratch up the newly painted walls, or he'd have been In Trouble (what does that mean, exactly, with a cat? Nothing). Finally, here's an example of, why we can't have a house that looks like Southern Living magazine: Nestled in the bottom of the wreath now is a Yoda figurine. Pretty sure that was Shawn's doing. It's fine, no one's going to see it but us, and it made me laugh. But still. I try and I try.

We're in the middle of the week already, yay! Kate and I had Monday off, and I needed it, to continue recovering from her birthday party. Not to be dramatic, but it nearly killed me. Walking up and down the mall while the girls did their scavenger hunt was not what I had envisioned. I'd envisioned bringing a book and letting them go by themselves, and check-in with me every so often. But the little girl in Kate is not yet ready for full independence, so she asked me to walk.... behind them. Ha! Wants me enough to keep her safe, but not to actually BE with her! Anyway, I needed that extra day.
Alex is in driver's ed this week, poor kid. He has the whole week off school, but is, in fact, going to school Mon - Thurs. It's a county program and has to be done, but I feel for him.
Both kids were starting to have sniffly noses and sore throats on Monday-Tuesday, but I think we have sufficiently headed off anything worse (knock on wood knock on wood).
And we're eating easy, but yummy meals - nothing I need a recipe for (skipped Hello Fresh this week):
Sunday - Angel Hair pasta w/meatballs, salad, and garlic bread
Monday - Burrito bowls with chicken, black beans, salsa, corn, etc.
Tuesday - Ham, steamed broccoli, pasta salad and crescent rolls
Wednesday - I'm going to pick up a rotisserie or fried chicken, and make mashed potatoes and corn
Thursday - I think this is going to be a Leftovers on Parade kind of night.
Friday - Tetrazini (from the freezer), green beans and rolls
